I didn't hear from anyone else as to whether they wanted to go up a day early. Linda confirmed two weeks ago and submitted her $50. It's too time consuming to email or call everyone individually about everything, so that is why I set up this collaborative blog for everyone to communicate, ask questions, and check our status. Our condos have been confirmed as of last week. If you still want for me to try to extend the reservation, I need to know TODAY, June 12. I believe that it is too late to try to get the extra night, but I will try. If I am successful, you can give me your check when we get there.
So far, only three people have offered to help with a potluck. Let us know if you may want to do that, or not. Otherwise, we'll just scrap the idea. I think the blog was well-intentioned, but not frequented or used as an effective communication method. I'll keep checking it should you have any questions, leave any comments, or would like to plan anything as a group at TIE.
If people are still interested in carpooling, please make your offers or arrangement here. Linda and I will be carpooling early on the 22nd. Laurel offered to drive on the 23rd, if anyone is interested. Here's the link to the contact info.
Hope everyone is having a great June. They start the abatement at Skyline on Monday, so it begins... The building is inaccessible, for any reason, until July 15th. Hope you have everything you need!
See you in eleven days!
I would really like to carpool on the 23rd. It looks like the keynote begins at 10:00, so that would be my goal for getting there. My car is not so reliable but if need be, I can drive.
ReplyDeleteNow, return: the conference ends the morning of the 26th, correct? But we have rooms until the 27th? Or did I get that wrong? I am flexible, so can do either day.
Myra...you are fabulous for setting all of this up!!!! Sorry I haven't been more active :(
I believe Laurel said she was going to drive up on that day -- check with her.
ReplyDeleteOur rooms have been confirmed for June 23, 24, and 25. If you requested an additional night, then that would also include the 22nd.
Remember, you can check in as early as 7 am on Tuesday morning -- you just can't get in your room until 4 pm., so plan accordingly. If you are taking perishable food items, be sure to pack them in a lot of ice. If you do get there before 8 am, you are welcome to stash your gear and food in my room and refrigerator until you can get into your rooms. I will be leaving at 8 am to get my session set up for after the keynote address.
It's been difficult for everyone to keep up with everything -- I know everyone is crazy-busy. I apologize if I haven't returned phone calls, but I have tried to answer emails and comments on this blog within a few hours. Please do check the previous posts and the comment threads if you can't find anything immediately.
My last two weeks have been from the Twilight Zone...working 10-hr days; my son got married so participated in setting up and celebrating; I sold a house from my father's estate; I moved everything out of the house; the buyer backed out of the contract with only two weeks until closing; so, start moving the small items back into the house to stage it for sale; I'm flying to Minnesota for a funeral tomorrow; next week I have to get my TIE session presentation ready to go; and move all the furniture back into the little house to put it back on the market. Yikes!
I look forward to our time at TIE -- to learn a lot, share our learning, put our feet up with a cold one, and relax a bit. Yea! I'm sooooo there...
See y'all in 11 days!
